have decided to buy a beddy whippet or a beddy greyhound with maybe a touch of some thing else. but i have never had a lurcher and dont have a clue how to learn it to hunt. what age can you start training. i can get hold of rabbits anytime to use i have ferrets :thumbs:. i have also thought about getting a already working one but then i thought if its that good why get rid of it? advice on what to do.

basic training the starting the day you get it :thumbs:

Also your right - no one sells a decent adult dog. However if your suggesting ferreting rabbits and letting them go to train your dog then someone needs to give you a good hard slap.

sorry but dont understand why he would need a slap, a lot of people train there dogs using live rabbits that they have caught.

I don't know why you'd ever need to... if you can't train a lurcher to chase quarry then you must be a daft c**t, the hardest part is getting them to deliver it to you.

 

Start young with the recall and retrieve and you should have no problem. ATB
