i dont suppose anybody can tell me the best way to post a scope can they? and roughly how much it will cost me to do it?

All i can say is dont go cheap on the packaging, we all know what those gimps at the royal mail are like. anyway all in all it shouldent cost you more than 5-6 quid depending on the size and weight of th scope.

I would wrap it up well with bubble wrap then cardboard then more bubble wrap and post it special delivery mate. that way you know it will get to whoever you are sending it too as they have to sign for it and should the inevitable happen it's insured for up to £500
