ArchieHood 3,692
I popped down to Ratville tonight for a couple of hours to find it was more like a ghost town. :angry:I usually sit in the van at the end of the feeder and wait for them to arrive I saw a few young ones but they just dash in and out and are hard to get a shot on.I did see one good un and duly impregnated him with a flathead and sent him packing. That was it apart from two other things. Now I was brought up in the country and appreciate what it has to offer so I am quite happy to sit in the peace and quiet an let the world go by.I was doing just that tonight when a barn owl perched on a fence post no more than 6 feet from where I was sat,we stared at each other for what felt like 10 minutes but was probably 10 seconds before he ghosted off.I would sit their all day to see it again, absolutely magical.I thought that was it .......... and then the sun set. :thumbs-up: 1 Quote Link to post

andyfr1968 772
I know what you mean, mate. I went out today with my two young lads to the estate. The sun was mostly out, the tree's all turning green, beautiful... We got nothing but it didn't matter. We had a lovely morning out and that's all that counts. Cheers. Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Hey Archie, You'll know my answer to that question, having read the post in the dog section. I take more pleasure in putting holes in paper than I do in quarry. But I do get a tremendous buzz out of making the kill as humane as I possibly can. I also like the biology and autopsy session at the end, so making the kill is a big bonus However, I love to sit or lay and just listen and watch the wildlife as it goes about its business. I've seen more species of birds laid in the paddock than I knew existed and watching that young fox grab my bunny really made it for me that day. Another memorable moment that made a day for me was when that big ol' Hawk flew over me very low and it fixed its eyes on me and turned it head as it flew over. Had a shocked impression on its face, something like "What the F K are you doing on my patch" In the cemetery, I get the pleasure from the people who thank me for trying to control the bunnies so they can lay proper flowers. stealthy1 3,964
Yep! Your right, its not all about he murder of furry animals, sometimes I will for go a shot so I can watch some bird or bug doing its thing, If we did all our shooting in a factory, then it would lose its appeal quickly Edited to say, have a green point Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Yep! Your right, its not all about the murder of furry animals I'd second that too, there are the feathered ones to be murdered as well  Quote Link to post
