willum 89 Posted May 1, 2010 Report Share Posted May 1, 2010 ive just experianced the same thing with our jrt took her to the vets it turns out it is an absus on her rectum apparantly its quiet common in small breeds so she now dons a satalite dish anti biotic anti imflamatry jabs some ointment to put on it for a week and then return for check up not bad for 40 quid. if its not worms i would get her checked out mate just incase i was told to put salty water on it by a freind that it was just a cist i wasnt sure so thought i would get it checked out. better safe than sorry mate. skycat 6,173 Posted May 1, 2010 Report Share Posted May 1, 2010 Almost certainly to be blocked anal glands: I would imagine that is what caused the abscess in yours Willum. Bum scooting along the ground, obsessive licking: classic signs of anal glands full or infected. The vet will show you how to unblock them but get the dog on a natural diet of meat and bones and I can almost guarantee you'll never have the problem again. Speaking from experience here.
