crackpot 29
i'm sure lots have an opinion but do you have first hand knowledge of keeping 2 pups back from same litter and bring them on. i'm keeping the biggest pup(the only dog)and the joint biggest bitch back, 1 person suggests this may not be a good idea(bonding with pup difficult because of bond with litter mate thinks will be a distraction). please let me know your experiances. thanks cp. skycat 6,173
In that case you've answered your own question LOL I've done it, it IS a lot of hard work and you need plenty of time to devote to each pup in turn: if you can do that then there shouldn't be a problem, but don't expect them to come on at the same rate or do the same things; they might, but they might not: don't get into the habit of comparing them to each other or you'll find one wanting. gnasher16 30,233
I dont buy it........once those pups are 3 or 4 months they wont even no they are related or give a bollock anyway, they will just be pups....ive raised plenty of pups from the same litter to adulthood, all given an equal chance some make it some dont....the bond you make with a dog will not put in what nature left out so your kind of stuck with whatever they are....a good bonding will just bring that out better but it still wont make a bad dog good. Waz 4,266
Ive tried it, didnt work out for me, 1 out of the 2 ended up staying with me. Fast forward a couple of years, I am keeping a pup same way bred, a lot happier knowing I only have the one to start in 2011.
