aaronpigeonplucker 32
hello all, as the title states, is this normal? if it is bad for the gun is there anyway of lessening it? ATB Aaron. Quote Link to post
othickman 6
I'm pretty sure it is normal at least to a degree; as you are dramatically increasing the pressure inside the cylinder it will naturally heat up for a short period, however, just how hot does it become? Quote Link to post
Night Hunter 109
I had a Rapid 7 mate and the buddy bottles did heat a bit when filled, I think the bottles should be filled slowly this reduces the heat build up,Hope this helps mate. Quote Link to post
DIVERD 34
As the little cylinder fills, the gas in it compresses and heats up, adiabatic compression if i remember correctly. The quicker it is filled the hotter it will get. As the gas inside the cylinder cools it will contract and you will loose pressure, hence it is best to fill it slowly. If you are filling from a scuba cylinder as the gas flows the big cylinder will get colder, as it looses pressure and the gas is effectivly expanding. if you are filling from a pump both get hot due to friction and the pressure drop is increased. simple physics, dont worry about it, just do it slowly Edited April 30, 2010 by DIVERD Quote Link to post
nasher1 258
My s410 doesnt heat up when I fill it make sure you are not over-pressuring the cylinder because A: its dangerous and B: if you blow the cylinder the end flairs out just below the filling valve making it a very expensive and usually a uneconomic repair. aaronpigeonplucker 32
thanks its only slightly warm, i can still touch it very easily. i only fill it to 170bar so no i dont overfill it. Quote Link to post
cunninghamb 2
As said no need to worry! I fill my S400 very slowly so that the air doesn't expand (get hold) so that it won't contract (shrink) in the cyclnder so that efectivly I get more air in and in theory a longer charge. When we are filling up out diving tanks they get pretty hot but no need to worry mate. All The Best Quote Link to post
