the ultimate lurcher will never be born,it takes so much to make a good dog nevermind an ultimate one.if you could take the best of each cross that are put into lurchers you might come close,i.e collie=brains bull=drive saluki=stamina.but it does'nt normally work like that

hi i agree with you but why do you but the saluki up for stamina just asking

because i don't know of any other dog that can pressure a hare for minutes on end`

my point is the collie has both . if you take a look at my first post on this topic the greyhound or deerhound can take care of the speed side of catching the hare

a saluki can take of the speed and stamina,all in one dog.it will lack the brains but that will bring ya back to what i said before;if you could cherry pick the best bits of each breed you'd come close to the ultimate lurcher

true there. i run at the moment beddyx but am old school in believe the lurcher is collie greyhound deerhound, good depate on this every one to their own

i keep bull x's and am not a fan of saluki x's as i have never been a hare spinner.if i could get a bull x with a collie brain i'd be close to my ultimate lurcher but a bull x could never perform as it does with a collie brain.which is why i'll never get my ultimate lurcher

it could have the best breeding in the world but you might not work well together,

 

i have a labradoodle bitch which is a fantastic bushing dog but she doesnt work for anyone but herself, the big gundog will break his heart trying to please, and the little kelpie x i have is a one man machine.

 

The big saluki x we have is wooden in the head, lovely dog though

to me its all about enjoying working whatever lurchers im keeping, i very rarely get rid of a dog, they are here for life, i find every dog has its own plus and minus points but this is what its all about for me, dont get me wrong, results matter to me, probably more than most, but as long as my dogs give their best, im more than happy.

i own the perfect lurcher hahaha only joking but shes good black collie/deerhound to bed/ whippet is good all round bitch very intelligent ,loyal ,takes all and gives 110% every run ,my mates recon shes half human she has taken to stamping on dry leaves to get rabbits to move out of cover before the terriers get to it and the other day she was doing it on old reeds in a reed bed and it worked it flew out and bang it was all over i could not stop laughing never seen anything like it clever bitch ,i'm not sure what the perfect lurcher we be but i recon were all gonna die trying to breed it ,in my view it must have collie in it whatever it is

 

 

When are You Going to come to Your senses stop bragging that old dog up,stop wasting money on dog food and give her to me I suppose I could give her a bit of kennel space
