welshwizard 33
Hi there People, here's a question for all you intelligent Terrier owning people. I have a Working Jrt, which I bred myself. He is out of a Gould bred dog and a Sealyham x Russell bitch. He has a red nose and red eyes. I asked a very knowlegeable dog man the very same question and he said it came from an infusion of spaniel somewhere down the line. With the geatest respect in the world, obviously I doubted this observation. So what are your thoughts people? Quote Link to post

It will only come out if both dogs have it somewhere, if you were to keep mating these dogs you'd find roughly 1 in 4 would have the red nose. Quote Link to post

So what are your thoughts people? i was at a farm a couple of weeks ago and he had a red nose jack russel with choclate patches, different but a nice looking thing Quote Link to post
hogdog 61
It could come form all sorts of other breeds, there are quite a few red nosed plummers which is a likely source or it could just be a reccessive gene that's popped up. The red nose thing always gets associated with the Pit Bull but there are loads of other breeds which carry the gene. Quote Link to post
cúagusgiorraí 57
Red noses crop up in lots of breeds. Its just a gene that dogs carry. Quote Link to post
waidmann 105
if red nose and eyes then its albino gene somewhere down the line(if patches are present then its not a true albino). this is a genetic fault and occurs in all species(even humans). i think it is more common it white bred stock(whether rabbit, dog or bird). i like the rheindeer theory better though. that spaniel must be a "bloody hell hound" waidmann Quote Link to post
