LDR 29
Just a few questions for those in the know............i'm going to get more into fishing over the next few years and have toyed with the idea of kayak fishing, but i've decided i'd rather get further out into the deeper waters. Where is the best place to look for boats to buy and what sort of things do i need to put in place before venturing out to sea, any info would be helpful, places to keep the boat, fees, licences, am i affected by catch quotas etc etc....thanks in advance......... chopper28 0
I'd say have a look in the boat trader, ebay, local classifieds. As for what you need life jackets, flares, radio(not for music ),back up engine or oars, gps.as for were to keep it that depends on where you live and how often your going to use it,it all boils down to cost.you could moore it up(cost effective if your using every week) or launch it every time.look else where on the internet for more info on what to look for when buying a boat.No there is no catch quoter for sea fishing with a rod and line. hope this helps a bit. trapper123 7
i have a boat moored in milford marina which cost 1350 a year (by the way the boat is up for sale) it goes on size mine is 7.3 metres, and the best way to make the boat safe is to do what you think i.e lifejackets.flares, auxilliary engine etc.then call in to your nearest lifeboat station and tell them you are a learner and what you have done and ask for a safety inspection by them its all free they will put you right so good fishing and stay safe ATB TRAPPER. nelson1 1
Hi Mate, I've been small boating for 24 years, Buying a boat well look around theres good deals every were! But thats the easy part,if you buy a second hand boat engine hours are important, condition of the boat (ie belly band transon keel and allround condition of the boat, engine maintance is a key to sefety, The likes of gps and fish finders are extras, marine radios you need a licence to operate a ship to shore radio it's a 2 to 3 day thing which helps you use and understand these radios, there are safe water training schools everywhere, in some areas you must complete this trianing before you can use slipways,!!!! lifejackets well only a fool will go out without one!!! You got to know your area when small boating sandbanks rocks will smash your prop or worse, if you get a boat find someone to go out with you who knows the area thats the best idea, theres louds of thing about small boating you need to find out first before going out. good luck, Ian .
