Guest Frank
Well, what can i say, was out once more with my mate. He rang last night to say a farmer was having problems with deer and would he sort them out, does a terrier like venison bones? I asked my long suffering wife, she just looked away and said, do what you have to do. So, at 7 am this morning, saw us glassing the area for sighns of activity, it was sharp cold with white frost and the sun just peeping over the horizon, pic below. We slowly walked along a path, when i spoted a prickett, looking straight at us I slowly put my mates 6.5 x 55 up and looked down the Khahels scope, checked back ground, safe. My freind whisperd, take him if its safe A standing shot , i got myself together and put the cross on the kneck and squeezed, BOOM, pop, straight down, CHAMPION . I gutted him, took a pic, (tryd to get my freind to include the rifle, but no ) and we moved on. We came to a valley and i spoted a big fallow buck, looking worse for wear after the rut, on his own. Got a good rest this time and lazerd him at 192 yds. I got ready and waited for him to turn, seem to take for ever, at last he turned and i put the cross on the shoulder, at the bark of the 6.5, he took 2 steps and went straight down, dead as a dodo. Now, we had the plessure of getting them out, but hay, we had the wheel barrow, no worries. They are now hanging in the shed and the frost is keeping them cool, MAGIC. Pics below of the Big buck and prickett and the place we were at. Thanks folks, Frank. Quote Link to post
