tillylamp 1,828
hi all, ive been thinking of buying a .17hmr for quite a while now but it means selling my cz .22lr to fund it, i really do like my .22 its a pleasure to use, quite and accurate and never lets you down, when i bought it,i had the choice of both(.22,.17)and ive allways had the .17 on my mind from the begining, the running costs of the ammo have never bothed me as ill pay for what i enjoy,i know everyone on here has talked about the differeces between the two rifles, but where i shoot theres room for both calibres, what i want to know is,would people think i was mad to sell my .22 to fund my .17hmr addiction, am i jumping out of the frying pan into the fire!!!! i would like your views please? thanks TL Quote Link to post

jamie g 17
i had a cz 22lr and a annie hmr and liked the hmr more. i sold the 22lr and then wish i hadnt. i think they both have a place. but if i had to pck just one i would stick to the 22lr. it is cheaper to run. and if your shooting most your rabbits around yards or less. why not shoot them with a rifle where abox of ammo is around 4 pound a box and not £10 + like the hmr is Quote Link to post
ace32 4
where you getting hmr ammo at £10 a box,its about £15 a box up here, robbing twats anyway, dont sell your 22,try and get both, most rue the day they sold there 22,s,i got a hornet, mate has an hmr,and 22,and we both wouldnt part with our 22,unbeatable bunny bashers ,ok,ian Quote Link to post

JOHNBOY 18
i dont own f.a.c yet but having used both on the same nite with friends rabbiting, both have def got there place even in the 1 nite ! Quote Link to post
theinvisiblescarecrow 0
I've got both. If It's breezy the HMR stays in the cab. By breezy I mean if I can see the leaves moveing. I don't mind the ammo price if I hit, a bit expensive to miss at over £10 a box. Quote Link to post
savaloy 1
totally agree with most others, keep .22 and have both, you obviously get the supersonic "crack" from the 17 but if the guns moderated, the rabbits dont know which direction it came from.you can save a bit of money on a mod by using the one off the .22 (just make sure mod is on your ticket). Go for both mate. Quote Link to post
