Hi lads,

 

Can you use ferrets for rats with rat purse nets over the holes or do i put the nets over and use a smoke bomb to smoke them out ?

yes you can use ferrets for rats.but very brave ones.as for rat purse nets.your a brave man lol

this time of the year those does are ferociously protective

You've got to ask yourself "Do I really want a live ,very p5ssed off, rat in a purse net"? If you were to ask me I'd probably say no

If you do set your nets for rats, dont forget to do a video so we can all see how you stretch them, or will you chin them Dont use nets, go down the terrier route mate, or better still, whack them with your gun

rat in a net ? only way i can think of to deal wi that is to flatpack them with a size 9 !

my ferrets work rats and i mop them up with the lurchers. Some ferrets are not interested though and if they dont wanna go you carnt make them. Its good sport in my opinion, not the massive bags like with a smoker, but if you have got a few holes round a feeder or chicken pen its a good way of sorting the rats out. the ferrets i use are bred to european polecats and love the ratting game.

if you dont want a smoker I heard you can feed smoke pellets down the holes it seems to work. there only about 1.50 for two on ebay.

i have bolted a few rats out of a rabbit set they must of been living side by side as we got 2 rats and 6 rabbits out the same set any one else had this

I make my own nets and have in the past made rat purse nets but what I found was the net has to be longer than you could imagine the reason being a rat can turn around on its self by following its tail So the net has to be able to wrap around the complete rat but it wont stop them it only slows them down. better using 2-3 inch drainage pipe with tights cable tied to it, but only if you dont have terriers
