used a similar type of trap looks the same just abit older my model had some good luck with it i caught 3 cubs and a vixen in one this year in the warm summer months not at the same time though one every other day my dad was well pleased.

Not being from Ireland or England, I can only assume you have red foxes. I have experienced very little success with live traps on the red fox, except for the pups. Although probably illegal where you are, the foothold trap guarding a double dirt hole is hard to beat.

Where abouts do you place your foothold on the double dirthold sets mate? Is it one trap per hole?

Ild use a chicken carcass or dog food or something meaty!

a mate set his among the round bales and baited it with a chicken carcass.... he claims to have got 3 big foxes in the last few weeks with it

I found that i never caught any in mine including my home made jobs until i put a board on the bottom,i think the wire put them off. Since boarding them they all catch quite well although i would like to catch the c*** that stole two from Hedge end (you know i know who you are)

Pheasants or hens work best in my trap.

Rabbit seems to be the best bait round our way, also pheasant carcasses. Catch all ours when the bait is stinking rotten. On the traps i use the bait is attached to a bar inside the trap when the fox pulls the bait the door slams shut. Seems to work though had 4 this year, 9 last and 12 the year before. Make sure the floor is covered with soil so they cant feel the wire when going in.

There's one on E Bay for 120 odd quid now. Not sure how effective they are though. Get mine made, they work on a different mechanism than the foot plate type. Quite effective though. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p146/simmo09/Image005.jpg
