ive always had black terriers and mine are a fair size, last yr i was given a small russel with 40 yrs breeding behind him off a terrierman for our hunt and to be honest he is a godsend for some of the earth locally, he is a yapper and nver mixes it, but i have bollted more than ever, he is a usefull tool in the box

no chance Earth, he is a little pocket rocket, will work all day every day, which is handy to the old stuff i have had, im sure the sister is going to him though

Hi there, I have two S. Deacon bred Black Terriers which are 10" and 9" at the shoulder, they are as made as butter. To be fair they havn't seen any graft yet, but they have seen dead fox carcases and they have gone mental. You can span them both with one hand.

It's what's in these holes up here that bothers me, showing them holes is not the problem. If there is a Hunting God they will get their chance soon, some people say they are too small, some people say they are the ideal fox dog. I would not put the bitch to an angry small vixen though. I have seen the BEST medium sized fox dog come away from one of these vulpine pieces of dynomite. When I first started hunting in the early seventies, I had the honour of hunting with a Legend called Eddie "Coed" Roberts. This man had more permission than a man could wish for, anyway I digress, this man had a strain of JRTs that were under 10", but would slay a fox. Apparently, his best Terrier, "Rex" would bottle a fox up in a hole end and then crawl along the foxes back and snap it's spinal cord, this he did on many occassions. This man refused £300 for this dog in those days. In those days it was a King's Ransom. Shortly after we were on a dig in the middle of Winter,which is fully documented in the F&MWTC Yearly Book, when we lost this valliant little dog. We dug that terrier out dead, he had suffocated trying to kill that fox. We dug over six feet to get to him, he was dead, the fox bolted but did not get very far. After we had back filled, Eddie turned round and said "If anyone ever offers you a really good price for your terrier, take it. I wish I had". These people are a rare breed, and should be respected as such.
