HMR question

Recommended Posts

I am hoping to collect my Anshutz 17hmr tomorrow , my question is do i need to bed the barrel in and keep cleaning it after every shot for say the first ten shots or just zero it and try to enjoy it ive picked up some Hornady V max 17grn and some Remington 17grn accu tips to try out,Im thinking of 100yard zero does that sound about right, Any tips welcome thanks.

not really an issue, in rimfire's mate, but yes because the hmr is so fast a little round i shot mine in but only fired about 10 through and then cleaned..

for about 3 times i think i did it... sure it wont hurt.....

Thanks for the replies ive done it now and all seems well ive zeroed at 100yards then adjusted it to 1" high at this range which is also about 1" high at 50yards now its done i was getting grouping the size of a 2 pence coin with ease at 100yard with Hornady 17grn ballistic tips [blue]. Cant get over how loud this round is even with a Sak moderator its almost louder than my 223 rifle by ear is there a better silencer for it i hope so, I know you cant stop the supersonic crack but you must be able to silence the muzzle blast a bit better i hope.

you could get the dm80 mod but there isnt going to be alot of difference. i had a numbe rof mods for mine and found the old style dm80 about the best. as you say you cant stop the supersonic crack.

but the crack at the rifle seamed more tamed by the dm80

Don't forget for a little rim fire round this things tripping out velocity wise at 2550fps roughly...

if you want performance you gotta remember you wont silence the sonic crack..

if you buy a mod at twice or three times the price of the sak by ear you will NOT notice the difference, so save your money, and use it for buying more rounds.....lol

happy hunting
