kill um with crisps 7
I had two jills AND a litter of kits each die of the f*****g stuff. A fox got in and killed a load of my dads racing pigeons. He gave the deaduns to me for the ferrets rather than waste um. The fox must of had distemper in its saliva and the ferrets all went down hill quick. Tried killing off the kits (witch broke my heart enough) hoping that without the burden the jills might be able to fight it but not a chance. longnetter 32
Bad luck "kill um" rotten news . Personally I think it's the shows (ferret, lurcher, terrier, whatever)that's going to be responsible for spreading distemper ATB Quote Link to post

Personally I think it's the shows (ferret, lurcher, terrier, whatever)that's going to be responsible for spreading distemper ATB If distemper is rife within the ferret show circuit as is suggested then surely ferret shows being stopped would make sense, red rosettes and trophies are far too great a temptation to a lot of people, rather than the welfare of the ferret. Even though some people know they have been to shows and other ferrets have come down with distemper from that show they are still quite willing to go to another show and put other owners ferrets at risk. Most people are responsible but unfortunatly there are some who are not One ferret show recently advertised on a forum quoted ferret show is still on (bring ferrets at your own risk)surely this should have read bring your ferrets at their risk!!! Ive read theres a vaccine is the vaccine worth it? Because ive also read it can cause anaphylactic shock. Quote Link to post

The only way to confirm causes of death in cases like this is to pm the ferret... i have no idea how many ferrets could have got distemper from being out doing there job & its not been confimed by a pm I think unless you recognise the clinical signs your self your unlikely to know what killed the ferrets without a pm & i dont think many people will have had every ferret they have lost looked at by a vet .. the jab is the dog vaccine basically & i have no idea how many ferret have & do go in to anaphalactic shock .... best person to ask is your vet ...
