Richie10 345
Hi, Came back from a dinner on Saturday night, not been drinking, 12:30am. The wife takes the dogs to the front of the garden to do a wee, at this point a guy walks up the street. Both the dogs are there and the pup starts barking at him, he keeps walking to where my wife is standing along the path. He doesn't walk into the road because my car is there. At this point the my older dog starts barking and because my wife has my back to the guy and doesn't see him approach. She thought they were barking at a fox. The dog jumps up at him and hits him in the face, not biting. The guy carries on and my wife shouts out a couple times if he is OK. He carries on walking and doesn't look back. The next afternoon he comes round and shows he has a cut on one nostril, no where else. It seems a tooth has clipped his nostril but made a 5mm cut. The dog has never attacked anyone else and never bitten anyone. He did hit the vet once with with his mouth but there was no damage. I have BASC insurance and home insurance but I am not sure the home insurance covers the dogs. The problem was the guy approached my wife in a confined space and didn't heed the warnings of the barking dogs. Does anyone know where I stand? Thanks Quote Link to post

Guest fence_hopper
very sad if the guy wants compo for that, shows the state this countrys in ffs. you should of punched him in his nose and told the police he came to your doorstep starting, so you did the cut buy punching him, you might only get a small fine saves you claiming on your insurance Quote Link to post
hogdog 61
What do you need insurance for? Is he going to sue you? Is he going to report your dog as dangerous? Just buy the fella some beers, apologise, keep a check on him making sure he's O.K and reassure him that you've taken steps to make sure it won't happen again, there's no need to make a big deal of it. Richie10 345
The guy said he is going to report it, because the hospital told him to. The way he was acting, trying to be the victim looked as if he wants to compensation. You can't trust anyone these days. The fact that there is only one cut doesn't show it was actually a bite, the guy didn't even realise anything had happened! Quote Link to post

Richie10 345
He said because it was bleeding alot. He has to go back to the hospital tomorrow to see if he needs a stitch or not or plastic surgery!!!! I would have thought that if it was that bad they would have put a stitch in right away not leave it for 3 days! Quote Link to post

jf1970 328
once again what the fat man said !! lol,ffs tell him you will see him in court if he wants to sue,he wouldn't stand a chance, for a start he has no witnesses, and if he is suing he has to prove dog bit him,you don't have to prove nothing as he is the claimer,he's only hoping you will turn round and give him a few pound, tell him to piss off and see what he does then,he doesn't sound very neighbourly Quote Link to post
