my five month old lurcher bitch insists on jumping up, any ideas how we can put a stop to this as we have tried all the usual methods and they dont work! is it just something she will grow out off as she is making our 8 year old daughter frightened of her. :

Have you used a shake bottle?

put some pebbles in a small plastic drinks bottle, when she jumps up, or does anything you don't want her to, shake it sharply to grab her attention and give the NO! command firmly, I think you'll be suprised how well it works, :good:

cheers mate will give it a go and see what happens. :D

The water pistol is a very good tip, I used one myself, to stop the pup

jumping up at people, as a lot of people get freaked out by it.

Worked in under a week, maybe 6 to 10 squirts. Then you just need to show him it, and he gets the message quick :D

:laugh::laugh::laugh: you lot dont half make me laff at times :clapper::clapper: water gun :11: thats a killer  right now that iv picked my self up off the floor, :D i will tell you how to stop a dog jumping up ..right then encourage the dog to jump up to your chest ,then at the same time hit the dog in the chest with your knee ,not to hard just enough for the dog to be knocked away or fall away ..dont let the dog see how your doing it ..it will lose confidence after a few times ..you must have seen it before ..dog jumps in to back of motor but falls out trys again but does the same ,it will not try again ..you will have to pick the dog up ..same goes for the knee in the chest ,just repeat it if it does again ...
