Nah if my pup would be jumping up I would do what I always do when the pup does something I really don't want...grab it by its neck skin and say harshly "No leave it" (or coarser language) while giving a firm shake.

If the pup pisses me off by going on after a few corrections, I roll it suddenly over while shaking in a harsh way, play up a good harsh voice and keep it down for half a minute when it struggles. Worked till so far but my dog is pretty docile, I can imagine more bolsterous pups seeing it as a game.

Thats easy Moll, there's too many keyboard experts about again, listening to shite and not experience.

the reason I sugested the shake bottle is because I know it works from using it myself, yet there's still people knocking what they obviously know little about.

you lot keep kneeing your dogs in the chest, I've had enough trying with some people, wasters!:censored:

There are many different methods and what works for you may not work for someone else, if a shake bottle works for you then thats all thats needed, I know a couple of mine would totally ignore the shake bottle. You say people knocking what they know little about but why are you the "expert"? I've been training dogs for various things for years but i'm always learning :D As for us being wasters, the good thing about this forum is that its about different opinions :11:

I made no claim to be an expert my friend, I merely stated an opinion, :good:

what p1sses me off is when you try to offer a hand to someone then others come on the thread being knobish, giving snide remarks and sending me weird pm's that I haven't got the foggiest what they're meant to mean!

one thing though..................

as you say, you have been training dogs for years and as such you may well be very competent at the knee lift method but do you think it's something for someone with no idea to be doing to a pup? I don't, and seeing as the advise is for someone new to training dogs and anyone else reading the thread, it seemed that the safest methods would be the better advise to offer. :good:

Fair enough mate but I for one would not be abusive on a thread, neither would I pm a person to give them grief. As you stated its all about opinions, ours may differ thats all
