luke524896 0
Hi all, i have recently just bought myself an air rifle and would like to start hunting rabbits. The problem is i don't know anyone around where i live that does it. I know this is quite a lot to ask for but if anyone lives near Epping Essex could i maybe come shooting with you sometime as i am very keen on the sport but i dont know anywhere i can do it and know little about it. Thanks Quote Link to post

Thanks If youre just getting into airgunning buddy, you need plenty practise with paper targets etc before you even begin to think of shooting live quarry. Practise, practise, practise until youre hitting your aim point 90%+ of the time. Look at some of zini's videos on youtube, you can learn alot from this man As for finding somewhere to shoot, some people are reluctant to take others that they dont know to their permissions. You would be best off going to local farms etc, and offering your services for free. All the best mate Kyle Quote Link to post
Guest hunter 2010
hi buddy i agree make sure you practice with targets first even try the metal rabbit target there not that dear to buy. when i first started i when around a few farms and ask them some said no some said yes but make sure you take permission slips so you have proof you can shoot there. all the best buddy steve Quote Link to post
aaronpigeonplucker 32
maybe see if you can get all your shots in 1" circle at a certain range before you even think of hunting. what air rifle and pellets do you have? Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
First thing's first guy's Luke, Have a look around your local are for an organised Airgun Club. Then go along and have a go with the targets, introduce yourself to other members ask as many questions as you can think of including the ones that you think may be a bit trivial. These are usually the ones people think they should already know the answers to and they turn out to be the fundamentals. If you dont get the fundamentals right, you'll never realise your potential. At the club, you will meet people who will be into all aspects including hunting and you may even get an invite to their permission once you have become a proficiant shooter. Good luck ATB Phantom Quote Link to post

adam scott 1
everyone on here is correct! practise practise practise! even if it is only a couple of shot's a day. get used to the idea of zeroing your site's all the time. u want them perfect if you are aiming for quarry. pace out your targets. get used to distances! so u know if u have to aim above the crosshair or below! air rifles are good untill about 45-50 yards at max strength. if your gun is new u need not worry about it not being powerful enough. as for farm owners! i almost knock on a door a week! i dont know them! i ask politely if i may shoot virmine on there land? they can only say no! a few say yes! just make sure u specify that u will be using an air rifle. i lost 1500 acres last year because i did not specify that! nightmare! farmer thought i would not kill animals outright. i laughed becuse i could of presented him with a used paper target without a middle left. but the joke was on me! hope this helps Quote Link to post
