Bill. thanks bill!! yeah really looking forward to a lots of great times up there. need to find a bit of an expert on moles as his garden is not only getting smashed by rabbits but the ground is getting mini mountains popping up everywhere! adam scott 1 Posted April 26, 2010 Report Share Posted April 26, 2010 wow. exellent going. i have a question for you. i have noticed that on the first couple of rabbits u shot, they were almost belly shots. not shoulder or head. i'm no expert but i alwys try to shoot for the shouloders or head of a rabbit for the quick kill. i mean we can never be perfect all the time! i'm just after advice. were these shots clean kills? only i have missed befor just like you said! above or below the head witch is a relitivly small target compared to the belly?? Alexisrouzee 6 Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Share Posted April 26, 2010 wow. exellent going. i have a question for you. i have noticed that on the first couple of rabbits u shot, they were almost belly shots. not shoulder or head. i'm no expert but i always try to shoot for the shouloders or head of a rabbit for the quick kill. i mean we can never be perfect all the time! i'm just after advice. were these shots clean kills? only i have missed befor just like you said! above or below the head witch is a relitivly small target compared to the belly?? hi adam, well i only go for head shots as there is a very small chance of wounding because if it misses like my miss judgment of distance did it went over the top, too low and it goes under its chin to the left and its a spinal shot and instant kill and to the right again a miss, i have taken 1 or 2 heart shots with good success but these were close, awkward shots where a head shot was blocked. a belly shot would not take down a rabbit, even with a fac air rifle unless you managed to get the heart shot at close-ish range. i do ALOT of target practice at different ranges and know the limitations of my rifle, my ability and the conditions and use this knowledge in the field and a good moto to go by is ''when in dought.... dont shoot at the live animal'' keep you skills and marksmanship principles up and the rifle will do the rest Quote Link to post
