Alexisrouzee 6
hi guys, well as most of you know i have been applying for more permissions recently and today i was ment to go to confirm and get the paperwork sorted for this big 120+ acres i have been told verbally i was okayed for..... after a couple of attempts to call him to arrange a time to meet there was no answer, didnt want to push it so have left it for tomorrow but it got under my skin so off i went!!! thought i would knock a few places up in an attempt to expand my shooting permissions.... try and try as i might but most answers were ''no thankyou, were all covered for pest control...'' so finally i made my way back towards home and tried a stables... they seemed interested but was not ready to commit so i left my paperwork and said my thankyou's and tried next door to it!! i cant stress enough that i was ticked off by now, i'd been driving around for over 2 hours with no no no but i knock on this last door and finally '' oh we have a MASIVE rabbit problem, were desperate for some help!!'' JACKPOT!! this place is CRAWLING with rabbits... counted at least 50-60 odd on a quick walk round!!! heres a pic of the paddock... it was just TOOOOOO tempting i had to get the cannon and have a go!! quick nip back to home (not more than 4 mins in the car!!) gun was already charged and ready to go!! got changed and back out the door!! gave myself a couple of hours before dark to have a looksy and boy was i glad!!! stalked my way down the paddock and had no clear way of getting with in 50m of the rabbits without them spotting me so decided to stalk down a quietly as possible but they all bolted.... never mind, found myself a nice spot to hide up and waited... was only 10-15mins before the fist one popped out... hmmmm... do i move for the laser and he might spot me or do i adjust the parallax look at the distance and give it a go....... agaist my better judgment i decided for the latter.... crystal clear at 50m okay so thats 1.5 mildot hold over no wind and rabbit was happy chomping away at the grass... a slow squeeze of the trigger and... wack bit of mud goes up behind the rabbits head!!! off it ran!!! well... i hit the ground with a thump!!! first one i have missed since my scope being whack and it wasnt my scope it was my judgment!!! i was really cross at myself all the bunnys had scarpered!! well at least it gave me time to get my laser out of my pocket ready this time!!! YOU REALLY DO LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY!!!! 15 mins past and out they came again....lasered at 47m and 2nd time lucky!! whack and the bunny was down with a clean head shot, not even a stretch of the legs!!!? and amazinly the others stayed around so another crossman premier in the barrel and whack number 2!! another clean head shot at 45m!! but the bunnys got wise after that one!! the light was fading so decided to walk back to the car and on my way back i saw a youngster.... again i would like to stress if the owner wasnt so distraught with the damage the bunnys are doing to his land and gardens then i would of left them to bulk up a bit but its the first time out for me on this permission and i couldnt be picky!! 28m and down it went! so 3 in the bag and got to the car and i saw 4 hoping about on his front lawn!!!??? RIGHT another youngen but it was going to have to have it, lasered at 30m and because of the angle i aimed for the eye and what a shot!!! well happy with that!! and cannot wait for my next outing!!! cheers lads ATB Quote Link to post

johnboy19 38
Nice one mate. Im hoping to do the same this coming weekend, for either ferreting or shooting permission, or both. Dont know if this is a stupid question or not, but what is the best time to go knocking on doors. I work 9-5 but think going at night is a bit late as they will have been working all day, but imagine farmers might be to busy or may not be around to talk to you if you go at the weekend? Nice going mate A bit of inspiration for us to get out and try a bit harder to get new permissions, you've hit the jackpot there mate And by the way, nice shooting. I think the paddock owners will be well chuffed with you Cheers Carl Rossy, we need to get off our arse's and get permissions yeah get on it my friend, like i said was literally the last door of the afternoon, next stop would of been home so goes to show just keep on getting out there, get a good covering letter and paperwork in order which always looks good to the perspective client and the hard work WILL pay off Excellent Little un's in the frying pan, big uns in the oven (cant stand the smell of boiled bunny  ) Cant wait for more Alex, Well done. Phantom well thankyou mr phamtom ... still waiting on those crossed pellets the little ones went to a friend for his ferrets and the big ones... well saw on the one show about having them in salty water overnight (which should extract most of the gamey taste and smell) and slow cook and then maybe a nice curry?? Nice one mate. Im hoping to do the same this coming weekend, for either ferreting or shooting permission, or both. Dont know if this is a stupid question or not, but what is the best time to go knocking on doors. I work 9-5 but think going at night is a bit late as they will have been working all day, but imagine farmers might be to busy or may not be around to talk to you if you go at the weekend? hi bud thanks for the kind words well i have always sorted my permissions for some reason on the weekend as most people have more time to chat then but what about a google map search for ''farms'' or ''stables'' in your area and send out a few cover letters and maybe a few knock ups?? couldnt hurt... always ask as well if they say ''no thankyou'' ask if they know of anyone?? give them a chance to have a think and they might mention someone?? good luck bud!! keep going and it will pay off Nice going on both the permission and the shooting mate It just goes to show persistence pays off. Just think..... What would have happened if you had decided to go home when you were pissed off!!!
