Guest Lurchers2006
Alright lads heres a question! Do you think they are any good russells left not just being dug to a couple of times a year eg. week in week out? Staying until dug to? Or have the been overlooked in favour of lakies and patterdales for serious digging, any pics would be great. Quote Link to post

Guest Lurchers2006
Thats what i thought everyone seems to forget about russells in favour of the coloured terriers, Not saying anything bad about them patts and lakies brilliant digging dogs just wondering about russells. Guest billy boy
Dear Lurchers 2006, Just replying to your question about working Russells. Blackpack is totally correct in what he says. There is still some good Russells about and there are certain guys still digging with them. In my opinion alot of the lads prefer the black or coloured Terriers, I don't really know why this is so. For myself I rate the Russells the best to be honest. However, there is good and bad in all sorts. I've seen some good Black Terriers and good owners also...... I let a friend of mine have a little lemon and white bitch and he lives in Ireland also. He's never been so pleased! I have 3 also from Bert Griptons bloodlines. The Dog Tramp is not a bad type but the 2 little bitches wouldn't win any beauty contests .But the dogs are good little workers. Best regards. Billy boy..... Quote Link to post
wheaten 47
A mate of mine has a great little russell, Its a long back, short queen anne legs and by feck what a worker it was. It would work big rock piles, peat runners full of water and boy could it give them fox's some stick! Quote Link to post

Guest Lurchers2006
How did you lose him? Quote Link to post
Guest the poacher
if you look on my threads theres one called gutted have a look at that Quote Link to post
Guest whitser
you can still get them alright. but you'll find that any one who breeds good russells has had the same line going way back without having to bring in weaker blood. unless i knew the full history or really trusted the breeder i wouldn't take one but i suppose that goes for blacks as well. a good terrier is a good terrier. Guest AsherDe
Yep, there are good working Jacks out there. I'm proud to say I have a couple of them. My favorites to hunt are neither hard or soft, but smart. You may not like what I like. Quote Link to post
blackpack 70
i do mate not really botherd about colour or breed as long as they sink and do the job thats what counts in my eyes Quote Link to post
Stabs 3
Are you talking Russells? Or white terriers? Because being white doesn't make a terrier a Russell Quote Link to post
