OldTrapCollector 377
I cannot be certain if Springer do make the mole traps, but they have the engineering capability to make their vermin and rabbit traps on site so I can only assume that they also make the mole traps there. Shame Fenn do not make their flat double catch mole traps any more - I could do with one for my collection if anyone has one knocking around?? OTC Quote Link to post

d6k 11
Thanks for the replies, bought a fair few from kilgerm good quality trap but quite a bit of adjustment needed before putting them in the ground As far as I know KG traps are Bethal Rhodes (manufacturers of the original duffus trap) Quote Link to post
120-2 8
The flat pack design is basically Bethel Rhodes, flat pack used to make the springs for Bethel Rhodes then started making the trap. As d6k rightly says Bethel Rhodes manufactured the original Duffus trap. Quote Link to post
OldTrapCollector 377
[bethal Rhodes - manufacturers of the original duffus trap Not quite - about 60 years later perhaps ... John Duffus made and patented the original ones in early 1922, those are stamped J DUFFUS on one side and PATENT on the other side. The patent was later sold to D. Jolly in 1958 and the traps continued to have the Duffus name stamped but not the word patent. But saying that there was an even earlier patented design that was almost exactly the same from 1880 too by Notcut. OTC Edited April 25, 2010 by OldTrapCollector Quote Link to post

Steve Albano 21
John Duffus made and patented the original ones in early 1922, those are stamped J DUFFUS on one side and PATENT on the other side. Here in the US, patents run out after about 20 years and cannot be renewed. Inventions are public domain after the patent runs out. Trademarked names last forever. Quote Link to post

British Patents and trademarks are both registered by the Patents Office here in UK Steve, and can be renewed by the owner at any time; they typically last for 16 years before renewal, elapsed patents are public domain, hence the many copies of the 'Duffus' type traps on the market.
