thinking of creating captin stinky and the clan a new dwelling i have spoken to one guy on here about my idears and has some feed back of his experience but would welcome as much input as possible. I have a drain in one corner of the yard (under cover internal yard) and was going to build a low wall 2-3 courses high wall and re-concreet the floor to slope to the drain easy to clean with the hose? small weld mesh sides with door and have bedding play areas on upper levels. this apparentley may not work what is the best design?

best to start with the location before you spend any dosh . will it be in an open windy area that may get to cold in the winter or will it be in a corner where it may become a sun trap in the summer .

 

the wind blows really hard to the left hand side of the house so i didnt put my there felt they would get to cold in the winter and not want to come out and excerise . over the other side it was very hot in the summer so i didnt want them to over heat in the end i put it up the top end of the garden where i felt i could control the temp better means i have to walk further to feed and muck them out but was the best place in the end.

later i ran a pipe line down the fence line so they could come down to the back of the house when they wanted to to a cage so i could sit on the decking and feed them a few bits great for excerise and they like the company .

i didnt have the money to do this all in one go the court the pipe just done it bit by bit.

any type structure/court thats built for the ferts, is better than a cage, just go for it, you can always add/remove bits at a later date, good forward thinking on the drain,

Jesus tonight, my wife would go fecking mad if i ran a blue tube like that down the garden, saying that so would i. Pint it mate the same color as your fence, will look much better...

the court will be inside a large barn block wall to 7ft on two sides on the north east corner of the barn there is plenty of air flow the other two sides will be weld mesh(small) one with a door. what is the score with my idear of having living accommodation on the upper levels will they use is? as i want a easy solution to keep them as clean as poss? your idear of the tube is spot on i will definatley be doing that

Yes they will use it, no worries. My sleeping arangements are raised off the floor, the cat litter is on the floor. They use this mostly but they still go in the corner of there sleeping compartment...

Its your choice but feerets as you will know, crap more or less in the same place, so it isnt hard to clean... plus would you want to piss it through all the time.....

no no no the blue pipe puts a nice bit of colour in the garden lol.

 

as for the jills having a crap i noted that when they wake up they are much like us we pop to the loo so what i did was put one of those plastic corner things you can buy just outside there sleeping compartment in the corner and now they use it all the time and have never had a crap or wee in the sleeping area . they have a raised level for sleeping and do somtimes have a crap down below.
