hunterjasper 0
hello. i no the questions im going to ask has probably been asked loads of times, so i wouldbt be suprised it your reaction isnt the most please but since i will be new to shooting with a shoot gun if i get one, havent even applyed for my licence yet but just doing abit of reconisence work first just to make sure i get the right decision. where about should i look at getting a cheap starting 410 or 12 bore from, if i choose to procede into applying for a SC and buying a gun, i will be willing to spend around 50-200 for a starting one, jsut to see if shooting rabbits with a shot gun is definetly right for me. i say this because i have always been an air gunner but have much loved shooting clays, and have done a few rabbit shoots. if i think its right for me i will defently get another nicer and mabye more exciting shotgun, because i will have around £1000 from selling my air rifles and other kit, which i would probable invest in a beaut of a shotgun (for that price anyway) but anyway, enough of probably boring you. so if you forget my initial question, ill remind you what it was; where abouts should i look to buy a fairly cheap 410 or 12 bore preferably o&u, but not majorly bothered congratulations if you managed to stick reading (i no im not going to bother proof reading for mistakes) thanks, any advice i would aprecieate Jasper Quote Link to post
hunterjasper 0
ha just read the title of the page again Quick question bit of false advertising there well the question in its self is quick, the other stuff is just a bit of space filling Quote Link to post
watchman 256
my local gun shop has a second hand section mate, picked up an old 410 for £60 for my lad,got some 12g in there for as little as £100,just check for pitting in the barrels and make sure its got a tight action and you wont go far wrong for a starter gun,so look up your local dealers. once you become an established shot then you can start looking for something bit more expensive, just to add,gun fit is very important as well jmo Quote Link to post
Guest dazzb
get round your local dealers mate, you could buy 2nd hand but as you know very little there is more risk involved, or you could look on guntrader.com to give you an idea Quote Link to post
waidmann 105
if the possibility is there to try a gun(from someone else with a cert) then i would do that first. a 12 guage will probably be cheaper to run(carts are cheaper) and i would suggest a better/more versatile caliber for an"average build" 15 year old. don't get me wrong you can shoot rabbit and pigeon with a 410 with great success. you can get a side by side baikal in 12g for around £100(often in very good condition/nearly new ) i have two that cost around that and am very happy with them(so much so that i have not even considered getting anything else to date). if its a 410 you are after then look in the for sale section on here and see what they have been sold for,the single barrel/bolt action are also quite "cheap" to buy. do you know anyone near you who could help with advice when buying a gun? as above the "fit" of a gun is important(more so with arthritic old gits ). get the right gun and you won't want to pert with it no matter which caliber yis waidmann Quote Link to post

jackinbox99 41
From my perspective, shooting a 3inch magnum cartridge in my .410 has little recoil, certainly not as much as using my 12g`s with normal clay loads. All depends upon gun fit though as how much recoil you feel. The 12g sbs im using atm doesnt seem to give me any more recoil than my 12g semi. Id definately go for a 12g if I was you, loads out there cheap. As others have said, get down your local gun shops and shop about. Dont buy the first you see, take your time. Quote Link to post
