Panna 68
In Hungary (Central-Eastern Europe) some of them are worked on wild boar and blood tracking, but really don't do anything that another breed would not make better IMO. Anna Quote Link to post

fieldsportsman 107
Does anyone on here Have any experience of working Irish Terriers? I breed and show them and work them to rat. Irish terriers were bred with a number of purposes in mind, instead of just one. These included rat hunting on land and in water, hunt hedgerows and catch rabbits in open, guard home against intruders etc. Hope this helps. Quote Link to post

cúagusgiorraí 57
Yes, a mate of mine hunts raccoon with his Irish terrier. It is also good for drawing and killing groundhog, and flushing rabbits. I personally like the Irish terrier. The type he has is stockier and not so lanky as some we see over here. any pictures of your dogs? Do you ever try them out bushing rabbits from cover? Quote Link to post

neil cooney 10,416
The Irish was probably never a breed that specialised in one job. Like most Irish breeds it was probably a jack 'o all trades, master of none. But before the saluki cross came along a lot of the top coursing men in Ireland liked the Irish terrier cross as a coursing dog and some of these dogs made names for themselves and could kill hares. The Saluki then put that cross out of the picture. Quote Link to post
