gonetoearth 5,144
he wanted to fight calzaghe, he would never live with him that's why joe didn't want to fight him he didn't want to hurt him.the 2 good things that came out of it was firstly froch lost and even better i won a few quid off it. It always makes me laugh how gullible the public are to this sport..... Who makes for a more dangerous opponent for Calzaghe,a fresh hungry Carl Froch,a fight that would have got Calzaghe about 30 quid......or a washed up Roy Jones who got him millions !.. Who was a more dangerous opponent for Hatton,a fresh hungry Junior Witter for peanuts....or a few million for fighting a washed up Castillo..... And they say fighters are thick ! hear a few things about boxers not taking certain fights but i would imagine promoters and agents have a big say in these match decisions! your not kidding some of the fights that never made it would have been the best look at the eubank watson benn collins fights all great fights and what the public wanted .. no avoiding each other .. it still pisses tony sibson off that bomber graham used to slag him off but would never take the fight sibbo offered to fight him for free remember sibbo chopping logs said it inproved his body shots did no good when marvin got a hold of him differant class mate to be fair haglers always said the hardest he`d ever been hit in his career was by sibbo .. sibbo was an average do or die fighter making the most of what he had and he did alright for himself ... my favorite hagler fight was against JOHN THE BEAST MAGAWBI a war to the last round Edited April 26, 2010 by gonetoearth

gonetoearth 5,144
sibbo was a good honest boxer but like many british fighters could not live with there american counter parts , herol graham based himself on laing , and many followed, a sheffield boxer glen roads started it all but never made the grade , still coaches today i think
Attack Fell Terrier 864
Good fight, Kessler deserved the win and won comfortably on the cards although a lot of the rounds were pretty close IMO. Credit to both lads, that bashed each others faces in, fought like warriors.
gnasher16 30,025
spot on mate , off subject a bit knasher remember duffs office in wardour st was it facing the old hammer house of horror building or facing the intreped fox wow now thats a tester....if memory serves me correct it was actually on Peter Street, which im sure was off Wardour Street where the Interpid Fox was....i may well be wrong though as i was a Terry Lawless man so wasnt aloud to mix with the enemy ....within 2 minutes of Ronnie Scotts club i know that much ....Duff was a good man and got some great fights for brits he did wonders for Charlie Magri,s career and my old pal Boza Edwards would have never got a title shot without Duffs devious knowledge. As regards Sibson....he was from my time and a very strange character indeed, very little self belief for such a strong powerful guy i remember when he beat Kaylor at Wembley Arena around 84/85 he clearly outpointed him yet congratulated Mark and told him well done for the win before the points were added up....he had very little confidence in himself which was a shame.....i didnt like his fight later on against Dennis Andries he should never have tried to move up Dennis was a great lad and would fight until he had no fight left in him but talented he was not,yet he looked it that night against Sibson,i cant remember if he stopped him or it went to points now but i know it was one of those fights you just dont like to see. As for Herol Graham he was a typical Brendan Ingle fighter with the hands down, a lot of them lads out of Sheffield have taken on the style and if you saw inside Brendans gym you would see why Edited April 27, 2010 by gnasher16
.terrier man. 193
Was a good scrap fair play to them, and kessler deserved the win, was nice to get your moneys werth for a change unlike the last hatton fight stay up till fukin 2 in morning pay 15 quid to se him get dropped in two rounds. Arthur Abrihams and Froch should also be a good fight unless someone takes a dive like that american :11: :black eye:

In fairness Dennis was never the brightest spark he still to this day doesnt know how old he is !...he did and said what he thought was expected of him and had no malicious ways whatsoever he was a genuinely tough man but didnt know how to sell himself and most times asked people before an interview what he should say.... I remember when Manny Steward took him out to america he had to fix Dennis flights and accomodation etc because Dennis just didnt know how he had the memory and attention span of a fish, unfortunately he has been exploited by people ever since and will die a poor man sadly. If im not wrong didnt Sibson lose to Frank Tate for a world title a few years later ...also im sure he beat Brian Anderson not long after the Andries fight as well. Sibsons best fight was smashing up Alan Minter in my opinion i remember it well i couldnt believe it but Alan was gone by then Sibson put the lid on his career.
