moonlighter 1,163
is it ok to breed 2 jills in the same run/hutch at the same time. they would be mated at the same time so the kits would be born around the same time and be of similar age. has anyone done this and would the jills accept another ferret around there kits? The one 8,463
Yes when i get kits off of guys i go for two jills and as there raised together when i bred them i keep them together and they get on fine .And ive found when i take one out the other one paces up and down the cage even ignoring her kits looking for her sister Quote Link to post
johnrthrfrd 223
i`ve done it before with no bother but a suppose all ferrets are different and some will breed together and bring there kits up and some might not. Quote Link to post
THE DEMON 93
ive done it also with no probs Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
The only problem i've really seen is two jills having a litter next to each other and there being so many kits in a big pile that the ones in the middle dont get fed and get crushed. Jai. Quote Link to post
moonlighter 1,163
cheers lads. if i put a seperate sleeping box in would they have them together or go to seperate boxs? Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
i would ask yourself do you need to breed 2 litters in the first place ..... if you need a possible combined number of 20 kits then go for it Quote Link to post
stubby 175
why not just breed one, but leave the other in as a surrogate aunt, two litters together is no problem, but they will put them altogether, you'll have no way of indentifng kitts to mums, no good if you want to keep records for future reference, good kitt, bad kitt etc Quote Link to post
