sandymere 8,263
Complete + a little extra fat ie a knob of lard or table spoon of veg oil most days with meat in the form of rabbit & butchers waste a couple of times a week, table scraps (mainly cooked veggies), the odd egg, etc the dogs have plentyu of stamina, recover well and hold condition. IMO there are different ways of doing it but as long as your giving a sensible balence of fat, carbs and protein in one form or the other you wont go far wrong. Guest it's all my land after 12
whats the best food when a dog is pregnent attended a seminar years ago (lot of top vets attended from around the country) seem to remember raw red meat for pregnant bitches it is great for producing milk, topping up calcium and magnesium levels doesn't go a miss, also top up their parvo inoc's (before mating)so the pups receive good protection via the bitches milk, as the pups are at most risk from 6 weeks old until vaccination, i/we usually get any litters jabbed against parvo at 6 weeks of age, as this covers them until vaccination.last time we jabbed a litter it was only £16 per pup (paid by their new owners before we released them)cheap at the price and great peace of mind.just a thought.
