genuine 81
Lets be honest here in the best way possible without being a c**t! 11 months is far too young,as someone else said the first thing the dog would contact is likelys to be a very pi55ed off vixen(not always good to enter young dogs too) Keep the pup back until novemeber december time,if you keep doing this is could wreck the dog! Not all terrier will go in make contact and stay untill dug to at a young age! Try some easy earths try and get to the dog pritty fast, let the dog have faith in you(the gaffer) if the dog knows your guna come, when he is ready for a deeper dig he will have faith in you digging to him and should stay! Quick question how do you know it was cubs and for that matter mr fox? Quote Link to post

If this is the only mistake he ever makes working terriers, I think he will be doing good! I have seen grown men who have been at it far longer make a bigger bals up of things, just to put it into perspective. At least he has been open and honest looking for advice. Some take longer to mature than others, and some never turn into what you want them to. Wait till the season and try her again. No shame in admitting you made a mistake. Wish you all the best with your pup, and try and take as much constructive criticism/advice on board as you can Probably get abuse for this but feck it FTB Quote Link to post

Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Personally ,and this is just my view on things ,i would be a little diappointed in a 11 month old terrier if it didnt show a bit more fire about it than that .i know most like to hold back a bit, more because they are told it is the right thing to do and not through an understanding of terriers and why the nead arises. The reason for holding back are, for me two fold 1]to prevent a young tearaway from getting smashed up and 2]to maybe let a slow maturing pup do just that and hopefully mature into a worker .There are however ,middle of the road individuals that you know are ready and these need bringing on in easy places , not holding back . Knowing why you are holding a pup back is knowing your dogs to the full . Most slow starters ,and i say most not all ,never make what i consider to be a first class DIGGING dog. That said ,give your terrier the benifit of the summer months and try single handed when its a bit more mature and winter is again upon us,then decide . 2 Quote Link to post
