Opal 0
Why are these not suitable quarry for air rifles? Quote Link to post
SEAN3513 7
because they are usually moving ( they can be shot with an air rifle, when stationary ) and they are currently out of season !!!! cheers sean Quote Link to post
Opal 0
Hi Sean, I have no interest in shooting these birds, I'm just curious as to the reason, I've only ever shot rats and one Magpie, well maybe two maggies, don't they move too? Quote Link to post
Edgar 1
As stated they are currently out of season. You can shoot then if they are in season and you have permission to shoot them from the land owner or holder of the shooting rights. Quote Link to post
Opal 0
Hi Edgar, it mentions on the BASC site they are not suitable quarry for air rifles, is this a shotgun elitism thing or am I chattin' ecrementoso? Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
Why are these not suitable quarry for air rifles? It is a generalisation and in a number of cases a 12ft lb is simply not up to the job...allowing for the margin of error to ensure a clean kill. Lets not get into a debate, but penetrating the wing feathers on a Pheasant is all but impossible with a 12ft lb, as with a Canada, the reasons can go on, even though we all know every air gunner only ever takes head shots!! stealthy1 3,964
Canada geese are hard put down with an airgun, it scuffs up your stock when you beat them to death with it 1 Quote Link to post
