Recommended Posts

Has anybody HONESTLY seen any cubs above ground yet, had a look out with the .22 tonight for some ferret grub, was driving up to where i know theres cubs, as i drive towards it i saw the vixen about to go hunting but she saw me and ran back to the earth, i waited to see if she would bring the cubs out, 10 min went by and 3 crows started dive bombing something further in the field so had look in scope and see the dog fox trotting back to the earth, would he have another vixen somewhere else aswell? i gave him a squeek and he came trotting, then stopped out side the earth and sat there, for about 30 seconds i was watching him through the scope at no further than 50 yards, shall i shant i, i decided not to, if i had the .223 might have been a different story but he's there for another time, fattning those cubs up for a few nights sport

Another couple of weeks before you start seeing cubs, you might get the odd few out around now, but some plonker on here around a month ago, said he had seen 3 different litters above ground mooching about, needless to say he was talking buulshit.

The cubs vixen is on the top of the photo. I reckon her dog is the bottom fox, and the other fox was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Hung around a fair while watching that vixen wondering would more come out but none did.

heres a picture from a couple of years back have a look at the date on the picture, this will give you an idea when you will see them out further away from the den, the cub is about 800yds away from the den and has been above ground for at least 2 weeks if memory serves me right.

will take the camera with me on Sunday night and see if i can call any into camera range, i know where a few dens are that are on ground where nobody is allowed to shoot

next time you shoot a vixen and your not sure if any cubs left in the earth, dig a small pit and throw her into the bottom and leave along,go back next morning and the cubs will be all sat in the bottom with her
