Best time to ambush rabbita

Recommended Posts

hi ya buddy

i find early evening or early hrs in the morning works well but on a golf course i do i have found there is no set time to shoot them they like to ly in the sun on the mornings through out the day they are about depending if the sun is warm and on the warrens they could be out all day then sleep when you arrive there lol had that before :wallbash: but the best thing would be to sit a good way from it with a spotting scope and watch on the 3 different days night early morning and day  and then you will find that your gun bag is full :clapper:

My preference is for an evening session, that way I can get my day time jobs done, which stops her in doors giving me greif, and be setup before the rabbits come out to eat, second to evenings I like early mornings, but the problem with mornings is that the rabbits are already out, and do one as soon as they see you, and as they have just spent all night eating, you may have a long wait before they get hungry again, but if your just out for a wander, then anytime :D

I find it depends on how threatened they feel; just to complicate things for you buddy ;)

On the Paddock they come out on an evening and a morning, at the other side of the paddock, they lay out in the sun most of the day because they can see any approach by anyone.

The cemy, they like to come out in the new part (thats visited by people all day) only at night/evening and early morning, but the end of the old section, they will stay out all day because people dont go up there often.

On the embankments next to the flyover and the field next to that they are out 24 hours (until I find the owner of the field and get permission) On the embankments, I can walk withing kicking distance of them and they just sit munching as I pass them :(

And on a night when I walk through the field, they hurry off to about 15 or 20 yards until I pass then they run back to the spots they were at.

Must remember my catty and ammo :whistling:

yep, generally the same as everyone else, morning and late afternon/evenings for me too, but shays advice is spot on, get out with your spoting scope or bino's and take a look over a few days to really suss where and when they are out. you can always leave yer gun in yer car and have a session if you time it right...

all the best, wurz

i go with Phantom.

i have permissions with rabbits and there habits change from one place to the other. a few visits at various times and you will soon work it out.

i also try to change the times i go to places i think it helps guard against them getting to wise to my game plan!

good luck and regards P
