LordGamebore 0
Is it an abosloute requirment to get a letter for permission from the landowner? I've been shooting the land for two years with shotguns and now the landowner has said yes to an FAC. However, he's not the type of person I would want to keep pestering about things. You have to know him to know what I mean. He doesn't like signing or writing anything, and I fear that if I ask he will just shrug it off and say stick to shotguns. His word is his word to him, and as far as he's concerned that's the end of it. Plus he's rarely in a good mood. Do I definitely need a letter of premission? Quote Link to post
jayjay 264
you have to give an address of the land in which you intend to use the firearm, with a reason for having the firearm and what you intend to use it for ,also if the ground has not been rated for the firearm which you are going to get they will have to come and check it over...,good luck...,and all the best, jay. Thee land is cleared for centerfire, I know that for a fact. Is it ok if I just give the adress of the land or DO I need a letter. Quote Link to post

Unfortunately LG , jajay is correct you need to get the landowner to give permission especially for first application, this will be the only permission you can shoot over on a "closed" ticket unless you come across other land that is already passed for yourcalibre This a land usage form that can be used , check with your feo LD Quote Link to post

Strictly speaking, you don't need a letter or permission or anything. You have to show "good reason" for acquiring the firearm you are applying for. If you can show that good reason then they must grant the cert. In practice it's much easier to demonstrate your good reason by producing a permission letter from the land owner but there isn't really any reason why the cops can't take a verbal permission from the landowner. Colster 1
Jonathan is right, there is nothing on the form that asks for a permission letter, just an address and contact details and you would assume that they contact the landowner themselves to establish that what you have said is true. When I put my forms in, I went in person to the FLO and asked for someone to come out and check I'd got everything right. She came out and checked my forms/photos etc and said yes that's all fine, you'll just need to include a copy of your written permission. I already had this so just gave it to the FEO when he did the home visit but I think Clint's way ought to work. As I know the sort of landowner you're describing I'd suggest using a simple form not too much flowery legal "I hereby..." and all that. Just write it in plain English. I...... give permission to ...... to control vermin and pests on my land at:......., signed ...... date..... Quote Link to post
LordGamebore 0
I'll see him Saturday so I'll just ask him to sighn it. Also, save me making a new thread, how do I add a sound moderator onto the application, and how many .22lr round should I ask for? I'm thinking of 1000 to buy and 1200 to keep. LordGamebore 0
For reason I just put "vermin control"? Quote Link to post
Colster 1
I put vermin and pest control, it's not that important as they are never going to deny you a mod for an LR, same goes for Expanding Ammo. They ought to add a condition to purchase expanding automatically if you put pest control rather than target as your reason but it's worth making sure. For ammo I put 1000 and 1200 but it came back 500 and 750. That wasn't a problem for me as I have a gunshop near where I work. Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Add all the above together and you are about there. A letter is not essential but is usually a good start! It's very simple, you must show you have the land, with a problem that the calibre is suitable for! Quote Link to post

dicehorn 38
For reason I just put "vermin control"? Think you have to bear in mind that some Police authorities do NOT regard fox as vermin - so you should put 'fox and vermin control' Not wanting to steal Clint's letter of authority can I also suggest: TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN I (..name of farmer..) of (..Full address of farm + post code..) being (..acreage..) hereby give permission to (..your FULL name and address + postcode..) for the purposes of carrying out fox and vermin control on the above land with both centre fire rifle and shotgun. Signed ................ Date .................. Tel No ................ Quote Link to post
