neil cooney 10,416
IMO without a doubt a fox. At this time of year meat eaten at the kill is brought back to the earth is regurgatated for the cubs. The head and tail missing is the call card. I doubt a badger would catch a healthy lamb that's more than a few days old. Also when the badger eats from the head down he peels back the skin, similar to the way you'd eat a banana. This lambs neck skin is removed. A large cat would have killed a lamb by catching it across the back. That lamb has no damage done on the sides. It's only on large game they need to take a throat hold.
SHOTGUNSNIPER 47
i dont know how true this is there ment to be a wild panther in a village in cheshire near me alot of people say they have seen it including one of my mates he is not the sort of person that makes things up could it be some thing like that but if so were would something like that come from :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: thats what i meant with "cat" bud. if this was the work of a cat then the carcass should be covered over with grass/sticks. i've not had any experiance of lynx kills(harz mountains, bavarian forest) but have heard from people who have.if the skin is removed there should be a clear killing bite to the throat and only claw marks in the skin around the body, whereas a dog will bite all over place and the whole skin will be badly bruised. its not uncommon for fox to take the head if the quarry is too big to carry("a few days old and strong") i though i would go for something more unlikly. there are reports of black cats by shrewsbury and around telford too. there are all kinds of reasons for the cats being here(zoo escapes, pets etc) they are all over the place and very secretive in their habits and so seldom seen(it took years to find a paw print on dartmoor). looking forward to finding out what it was, waidmann Cats are very callable - Has anyone tried calling for the mystery panther? We attract and photograph Pumas all the time by creating mock latrine/litterbox's and set a trailcam on it....I will post some pictures.... A lamb that size would easily be carried off and consumed in minutes by a hungry panther - just a snack fo a big cat! SGS

Yes with the world wide proliferation of trail/game cameras out in the woods these day's there should be photographic evidence of Sasquatch, Chupacabre, the Abomidable Snowman, and the UK Mystery Panther.... Last year we did captured video of a human she-wolf taking a dump......LOL

I might be, and probably are totally wrong but on my open FAC it states in clause 7 that i can use my rifles for d.) the shooting of animals for the protection of other animals or humans. I know if i was in a field and if i came across a panther looking at me and licking its lips i would shoot first, then argue legalities later!
