Sweeney-Todd 208
Hi Fitchet. Mother nature will answer that one for you I think it is important, anything that breaks your shape and blends you into your surroundings cant be all bad. The rest is up to you, regarding smell, noise, and movment, get them wrong, and your camo wont help much ATB. Bill. Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Thoroughly agree with bill there Camo does play an important part in the fact that it breaks up your outline shape. Bunnies only see in monochrome and any straight line, shape or block of colour stands out like a sore thumb. However, even in camo, if you make a sharp move they see multiple small shapes move in unison and become aware of it. I had a Woodie land above me in the hedgerow a couple of days ago, I was in full camo and the woodie dropped a splat just to my right. I turned my head to see what it was that landed next to my arm and the movement had it on its way long before it saw my face. If your wearing a bright white t-shirt and laid on the grass, a bunny will see it a mile off and be weary of it as it wasn't there earlier when he was out. However, stay still long enough and that white shape will be seen as another feature of the land and it won't be bothered by it for too long. Move though and its either a bolt to the nearest warren, or if its unsure, it will stick its arse out and begin thumping on the ground with its hind feet, before giving it legs. jackinbox99 41
In my experience, unless your wearing bright clothes then for bunnys, camo makes little difference. I have gone hunting in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt before in summer and managed to walk up to within 30 yards of bunnys without them getting spooked. Its all about how you move and where you move. And, what the bunnys are used to. Quote Link to post

aaronpigeonplucker 32
i think its very important. if you are not wearing cammo your human shape is sillhoueted against the naturaul broken up shapes. if you your human shape is broken up thenits harder for quarry to distinguish you as a threat. decoyers have been proven that pigeons react to the pink of a humans face and if your face is covered you will get bigger bags. one thing that many people do is get the highest quality camo jacket and trousers then forget about there face and hands. these 2 patches of pink really show up and can be fixed easily by a pair of gloves and a face veil. as preivously mentioned, movement makes a lot of difference but even when your stalking an animal and you need to move, camo sill makes a lot of difference by breaking up your shape. of course you can hunt without camo but you make things a lot harder for yourself. i remember watching an old show of 'passion for angling' and there was this mad guy on it who put up a scare crow holding a rod in the middle of a carp lake and left it there for a week, baiting it up every day, until the carp got used to it. then he went down there and the carp weren't spooked at all and were happily swimming around his feet. a pigeon can get used to a guy running round a field in a luminous orange jacket scremaing all day long if he's there all the time. PeakOil 352
Camo is important but not as important as fieldcraft and accuracy. Quote Link to post
rossy08 33
you wouldent find a gun in my hands with out the camo being on my bk. wont leave home with out it. at the very least i will be out in the olive green. and as some others have said i dont wash my hunting/camping gear so that it builds up a smell, burnt wood the last hill i slit on me ass down the inevitable cow pat rabbit poo ect ect. all helps mask your out line and smell try to resist the temptation to use loads of body spray when you go out, who when down the permission cears if you smell the pig shead. just my thought. Edgar 1
No need for camo. With rabbits good field craft is whats needed. Keeping still or moving slowly is often the best camo. I don't wear bright clothes when hunting but I never wear camo, it scares the public too. Quote Link to post
