tame ferrets

Recommended Posts

How important is it to everyone to have tame ferrets? I could not imagine not having tame ferrets. All my ferrets are fine with everything that comes near them, apart from a rabbit. I can't believe the amount of people that put up with biting ferrets. They are not hard to train I don't think. Crazy that people can't put the time in to teach the ferret some rules.

Gotta be tame mate, i've got one here now that is the least tame i will have and shes absolutely fine, never bitten, not bothered by being picked up or handled really, but can sometimes be startled by something coming from above and behind and has a quickness about her that can be a little unsettling. But all my ferrets should be able to ride on my shoulder, have meet scraps pulled from their teeth and play fought with without a bite.

with work etc; don't get to handle mine enough but because they are bred from a good strain, thbey are well tame and can be handled anytime, makes working with them that much easier, have had enough of nippers and biters,

I have 13 ferrets just now and my boy of 4 handles them all except 1, this is my 75% hybrid who is fine depending on how you pick her up but have got her to addd speed into my line as i know from experiance from my good friend, when he did it. ok it was 3 generations back but now his ferrets are tame and lick lightning thru the warrens i have never seen any ferret work so fast.

All my ferrets are as tame as can be except for 1 which i had from the rspca the other two from the rspca are as tame as can be but theres just that one little jill thats so unpredictable one minuite she can be good and the next she just wont be handled in the three months ive had her she coming on great, i tried putting a locator collar on her today for the first time and she was having none of it. needs a little more work and she should be fine how she will work i have no idea. anyway i simply couldent work an untamed ferret i value my fingers too much and it doesent take a lot of work to tame most ferrets just 5-10 minuits each day spent handling them or just generably being around them for the ferret to get used to you and you will be sorted

Nows the time for bonding all summer , I put them on the floor let them get used to me walking over them and stuff picking them up putting the down let them realise they don't need to worry and generally just making a fuss of them especialy young ones ,makes life alot easier come next season ,trust. Works both ways I can put my finger in any of my ferrets mouths ,trust
