Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed a new landmark law into effect today. The right to carry concealed firearms no permit required. This means that any law abiding citizen of legal age may carry a concealed weapon legally. WOW

Arizona is also leading the way in illegal alien enforcement. Maricopa county is the richest and one of the largest counties in Arizona and today the Head Sheriff Joe Arpio has activated a huge task force to hunt down, aresst , fine and deport all illegal aliens. WOW

Both of these legal action are bound to make national if not international news.

The actions that Sheriff Joe is taking are very controversial - He is enforcing federal law by arresting the illegal aliens. This angers the liberals...... The aliens are leaving en-mass returning to points south of the border. WOW The shite is hittng the fan here in AZ.... Just thought I would update.......

The big difference is that Sheriff Joe would be out on his ass if he was perceived to be failing in his duty to the people he is there to serve. Over here useless chief constables carry on as if they're a law unto themselves, often pursuing their own personal agendas with no fear of recourse. Brunstrom, Paddick, etc.

He banned smoking and pornographic magazines in the jails, and took away their weightlifting equipment and cut off all but 'G' movies. He says: 'They're in jail to pay a debt to society not to build muscles so they can assault innocent people when they leave.'

 

He started chain gangs to use the inmates to do free work on county and city projects and save taxpayer's money.

 

Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination.

 

He took away cable TV until he found out there was a federal court order that required cable TV for jails. So he hooked up the cable TV again but only allows the Disney channel and the weather channel.

 

When asked why the weather channel, he replied: 'So these morons will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs.'

 

He cut off coffee because it has zero nutritional value and is therefore a waste of taxpayer money. When the inmates complained, he told them, 'This isn't the Ritz/Carlton. If you don't like it, don't come back.'

He also bought the Newt Gingrich lecture series on US history that he pipes into the jails. When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series that actually tells the truth for a change would be welcome and that it might even explain why 95% of the inmates were in his jails in the first place.

 

With temperatures being even hotter than usual in Phoenix (116 degrees just set a new record for June 2nd 2007), the Associated Press reported: About 2,000 inmates living in a barbed wire surrounded tent encampment at the Maricopa County Jail have been given permission to strip down to their government-issued pink boxer shorts.

 

On the Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing pink boxer shorts were overheard chatting in the tents, where temperatures reached 128 degrees. 'This is hell. It feels like we live in a furnace,' said Ernesto Gonzales, an inmate for 2 years with 10 more to go. 'It's inhumane.'

 

Joe Arpaio, who makes his prisoners wear pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic. 'Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for parole, only to go out and commit more crimes so they can come back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things many taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.'

 

The same day he told all the inmates who were complaining of the heat in the tents: 'It's between 120 to 130 degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are living in tents too, and they have to walk all day in the sun, wearing full battle gear and get shot at, and they have not committed any crimes, so shut your damned mouths!'

 

 

 

If all prisons were like this there would be a lot less crime and we would not be in the current position of running out of prison spaces.

Martial Law is declared usually at the request of the governor to the president in case of disasters and extreme emergencies.This allows the federal government to have authority over state affairs and so the regular Army/Military can take charge of the State Guard..... The governor refused president Obamas request to use the State Guard to stop Arpio so now Obama wants declare martial law without the governors request and bring in the regualar military. If the president attempts to do this he will be breaking federal law and the constitution which is a breach of the presidential oath and and would cause impeachment proceedings. Nutshell - Governor Jan spit in the eye of the president...WOW

The state pay's the chain gang inmates a minimal wage it is their choice to work or not most choose to work to get out of the tent city for a few day's a week.....the rest is all true even the pink underpants..... He also dies the bologna green and other food green so that it discourages food theft. I heard that after a couple of weeks an inmate shites green. Like a leprechaun....LOL

Think about it though Swamps, the gangs of teenage yobs here would think twice about beating old folk senseless if there was a chance that one of them might end up with a bullet legally lodged in one of them..

 

I've spoken to a few Americans over the years, and most of them say that the gun laws there dictate that there's respect between the ordinary folk there. You don't get big meat heads walking round town looking for someone to punch on a night out there for obvious reasons. Guns are a great way to level the playing field..

 

There are pros and cons, but I don't think you can compare our two cultures. IMO the chav culture has grown out of many of the younger generation knowing they can do pretty much as they please and not suffer the consequences. A large portion of today's youth have lost the respect for their elders that used to exist. Years of parents and schools being told that they can't discipline children and children being told they have the same rights as adults while not being old enough to respect/ fully understand those rights, have resulted in a generation free from reactions to their actions.

 

Understanding from an early age that your actions could end up with you being dead is a great deterrent for most, though less so in some areas where life is cheap and you come to accept that an early death could be part and parcel of your chosen way of life.

That is an argument, however as you say, our two cultures differ vastly. Most folk of an older generation would not take up the opportunity to carry a firearm because they would have the attitude of "I've never needed one before I don't need one now". I don't accept that our country needs guns in its society (excepting the obvious reasons) I do however agree with the thought that the youth of today has grown up without understanding "consequences" as there have been none for them to see.

I would dread the day when guns were readily available to all. For all its faults I do think that the good ol' GB is still one of the greatest and safest places to live. Introducing guns into the equation would certainly not be a positive move. Fortunately it is unlikely to be on any MP to do list and therefore will not be an agenda item in any parliament.

I wish we could stop drawing comparisons with the USA. Our cultures, fortunately, vary considerably. We do have more in common with them than we do with our european neighbours though!
