masmiffy 82
stopped! we never started as rabbits were so thin on the ground on our permissions! Only went about 5 times in all and prob managed 30 in total! Few more about now so fingers crossed for this winter! Oh and a bit of lamping in between Quote Link to post

I see pest control as a reason getting thrown into the mix, backing up the reason for ferreting long into the breeding season, killing milky does and countless young. Fair play you have to show a result to secure the permission, but why not put the effort in during the correct windows most call a season? If you are unable to get out that much to do the job in that window, why not let a few young shavers get out and take over the land and do the job rather than ferret it well into breeding season because you cannot cover it. Personally i know i can cover all my permissions (and probably more) during the season on our patch, 3 days a week. Is there any need to keep going and kill everything long into breeding season if you get out and do your job well before breeding season? Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
To be honest we hammer the land 3 days a week or more and lamp 3-5 nights during the season so it's fine to stop over summer and not one land owner is bothered. Jai. Quote Link to post

Cheers Brimmer Im out generally at least 5 days a week ferreting from August right through till the cover is too high and then the waiting game with the rifle on an evening till August, it keeps a roof over my head(estate house) as long as I get results and do have young shavers for days out when the need arises. As for breeding season I was getting milky does in September and again last week in December so the estate being 98% arable the rabbits need to go Y.I.S Leeview Quote Link to post
