wicked whippet 0
I didn't go to any lurcherworld shows last year as i was unimpressed the year before. Thought i would give it another go to see if they had improved and as monmouth is local to me thought it would be a good one to go to. Didn't course or race as i don't have a dog to course at present and didn't really want to race as my dog is just back from injury but did show two of my dogs. I was dissapointed to find that rough and smooth dogs, bitches were in together. Why? I don't have a problem with this but feel that it is unfair to mix the classes with some nice dogs missing out due to not having their own class. Felt that money wise LW were shooting themselves in the foot really! Not to mention cheesing people off with mixed classes. I do feel that they have lost their way a bit and don't seem able to decide what format to stick to and sometimes the line judging does seem decidedly short sighted!! Anyway needless to say i'll not be going to any other lurcherworld shows this year. ( though i did manage a couple of rosettes in the showing lol) This is just my opinion so don't shoot me down in flames and i reckon either you join LW and become one of the clique or just go to a decent T & L show (one with a terrier show) so Wales here i come!!!! Tom Pickering 28
Glad I never attended Monmouth after reading the reports!!! I used to attend alot of lurcher world shows in 2008 & had some good days/weekends away, last year I didnt get to many due to living away. I did go to Thame this year and won with both of my rough dogs - one being the timed event for the overs, I didn't have a clue how he could beat purpose breed non-peds over 100 yards but I wasn't to complain These are my thoughts of the new schedule; The straight racing which is now a timed event for unders & overs - This seemed to take along time as the dogs ran individually & dogs were only getting one run (although you could re-enter but not many were too bothered) The all in championship qualifer - some of the owners will probably hesitate to run smaller dogs with the overs. Also greyhounds are allowed to enter which for a whopping £1000 prize money at the year end seems very unfair. I'm not bothered about the showing but some people will with the £500 prize money up for grabs. I think that more people who just show dogs will attend other shows so that their dogs dont clash in down sized classes. Just my opinion or perhaps constructive citicism on the new schedule to that of the past Be nice to hear other peoples views on Lurcherworld - Tom
malc1 544
well here we go i dont think greyhounds should run with lurchers for money for fun yes idont think rough dogs should be showed with smooth dogs and show dods should be seperate from working dogs thats my point of view
Timid Toad 18
even though my daughter had a real good day at the show i thought the idea of entering before the show was a waste of time as people still wandered in the ring without having pre entered i dont like the rough and smooth together idea esspecially if you have one of each of these dogs and the idea of 2 rings running caused all sorts of problems for people who were entered in both rings. i didnt enter the racing or courcing and after hearing what happened im glad i didnt waste my money having organised and run many shows and racing myself i dont think i shall be attending another of their shows unless things change drastically. labsnlurchers 39
had a phone call from some freinds who attended the monmouth show with lurcherworld, their dogs came down with kennel cough a day or so after the show. They have rightly phoned everyone in lurcherworld to let them know they could have unknowingly been carrying it and passed it on to their neighbours while camping. They aren't going to the next few shows now to make sure its cleared but it will be interesting to see how many others from lurcherworld do the responsible thing at broadlands living heritage this weekend.
