i no over by the stag hounds throw smooth but here well not seen many in the coursing feild or lamping localy , and never here many guys with them any body got apic of agenuine deerhound smooth coated variety

I like bill I don't agree with everything he writes about deerhound crosses, but i would say hes the type who can put his hand to breeding anything and you can always learn something off.

If you mean by "blow with the wind"; that I'm not "breed blind", then you are exactly right !!! I've had all sorts of working dogs. including pure Saluki, and now have a "BITZA" and a 1st cross Deer/Grey, had Collie/Grey and all sorts of Whippets, but I will take a dog as it comes !! If it's good....it's good.....; If it's shit ....it's shit..... the cross doesn't come into it !! Open your mind, mate !!

Some one getting a deerhound first cross for the big stuff i can under stand but for rabbits you would have to be mad, a 1/4 Deerhound would suit some-one who works all week and wants something that going to be fast and catch well. but its not going to have the stamina that you need to work it all night or night after night JMHO
