As said mate both new and secondhand vary greatly in price ranging from £100 to nearer £1500

best thing to do is buy what you can afford if the rifle "fits you".

By that I mean get out there and try before you buy. Some rifles will feel more comfortable when you shoulder them.

Take the weight into consideration ...If you are on a long hunting trip will you be able to cope with a heavy rifle??

Will it be a spring rifle or precharged??

Will it be .177 or .22??

Above all else when you've got your new weapon of choice practice on paper and get used to the way it fires before taking out live quarry

hope it helps and good luck with your decision

One thing I would add tho, is that I would spend a bit of time doing your research first and take your time. Dont rush into buying the first gun the local gunshop "recommends".

Id research the pro`s and cons of springers and pcp air rifles, then find out what the local gunshops are, and try a few air rifles out for fit. See what you like the look off. Do you prefer a thumbhole stock, a carbine, a full length, a heavier or lighter gun. Get an idea of the prices the guns are. Then WALK AWAY!

Get back online and see how much the guns you have short-listed go for 2nd hand and at other shops, so you know what a fair price is. Checkout owner reviews etc.. before you finally go out and buy.

One mistake a lot of people make, myself is included is to go out & get a cheap air rifle for their first one. Then, you realise that actually the gun you bought is very in-accurate and worth virtually nothing 2nd hand. So, you have wasted your money. You would be better off going for a "decent" air rifle for a start.

Id also buy 2nd hand, rather than new. Then the initial depreciation has gone and if you find out you want to sell the gun in 6 months time, the chances are you`ll not loose a penny on it.

When buying an air rifle, also make sure you factor in things like silencer and a scope - both will cost around £50 each for ones suitable for an air rifle. If your buying a PCP you may want to buy a pump to refill it which will cost around £100. Or you can get your local shop to do it for a small fee each time. (my shop charges £4).

Price wise, it all depends on what you want to spend, but taking my own air arms s410 carbine as an example, you`d be looking at about £400 for one 2nd hand. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Its deadly accurate, quiet, PCP, loads of shots per charge and has 10 shots. They seem to hold their value very well, and mine is worth pretty much the same as I paid for it when I bought it 18 months ago.

Whilst I opted for the air arms, id also look at all the other main makes. They are all pretty much as good as each other these days, so its really down to personal preference.

and how much would one of them be inc silencer and bipod

Have a search in the for sale section on this and other websites to get some idea of how much they are and whether they normally include silencer etc.

If they dont include a silencer then your looking at about 45quid for a new one. Bipod costs about the same for a new one. Likewise, if it hasnt got a scope, then a scope will vary from 30quid upwards.
