Irish Lurcher 1,013
How many of you saluki men run dogs with no saluki in them, or do just you prefer to stick to just the pure saluki, vise versa, how many lurcher men who run the standard cross would convert over to running pure saluki. Have to say that I am your bog standard Collie X man and could never see me jumping the fence. Quote Link to post

TOMO 27,159
i have one with both saluki and collie in a pup mind. but to be honest its this exact reason why theres so many arguments on here, most lurcher lads are so set in there ways, they read somthing , or see one or two dogs of a certain type that dont perform, and they think there all like this. NAROWMINDED is a word that comes to mind. look at the thread about the malamute cross, lads are arguing and saying they cant do this or that, but have never seen one work LURCHERMEN ARE NOT OPEN MINDED ENOUGH . 1 Quote Link to post

Hi TOMO Had one and it drove me to drink, I think you have to have a certain mentality to own such a breed, would you not agree, I dont think I am cut out to run such a breed, I am very impatient person, would I be correct in saying one needs patient to bring such a breed on?? Was she easy to train, or did she drive you nuts till she matured? Frank. SHE was easier to train than the kelpie cross very liad back , she seemed to just take in any command, i tought her to sit in 5 mins flat Quote Link to post

artic 595
I started with a collie/grey, good bitch, good lamping dog, and she was great at catching feather, however early retirement at 7yrs old. Then I sold my home and moved to a different location. With that, the ground was totally different, and more choice of game on the menu. I got introduced to saluki and deerhound crosses and have stuck with them for the last 15yrs. That's not a long time considereing your dog can live up to 10yrs plus, and those who truely work their dogs know that there's a good chance that the working life of a lurcher can be short for many reasons. There's so many types around, I'm not going to talk down about certain types, just be happy with what you've got. Quote Link to post
