johnboy19 38
Im wanting to get a bipod for my new gun. After spending all that money on the gun, i dont have enough cash for the likes of a harris bipod at the moment. I have been looking at this http://www.uttings.com/?categories/ShootingAccessories/Bipods/UTG/ Has anyone used one? Are the any good or not? I read somewhere that attaching a bipod to your barrel will put your poi up so wanted to know what you guys thought. Cheers, John Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Hi John, Personally, I would not use one that clamps to the barrel A knock on the pod could easilly put your barrel out and that you don't want. I use a cheap Harris Clone, from China and have had no problems at all with it so far Have a gander on eBay, Ipaid about £20 inc p&p Phantom Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Hi John, To be honest with you buddy its not so much to do with the price of the bipod but more to do with what kind of rifle you have. I.E a springer or a PCP. As Tony says anything attached to a rifles barrel is not really good. Having a bipod attached to a rifles barrel alters the rifles overall harmonics on firing and in a springer (recoiling rifle) a lot of the recoil is sent down the bipod instead of being arrested by the shooters shoulder. When this happens the rifle barrel will jump high right if you are a right handed shot or high left if you are left handed. Once you zero like this the rifle will not be true when you want to shoot it from the standing, kneeling or squatting position and you will almost always wound or miss. With a PCP you can get away with a bipod attached to a barrel but I would not recommend it as most new PCP barrels are floating barrels and don’t like anything attached to them. A better idea would be to fix a bipod to the rifles stock. Here is a very good but cheap bipod that I use, it cost £24 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Harris-style-Metal-Bipod-6-to-9-BC-bipod-S_W0QQitemZ220471573061QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET?hash=item3355213a45 Si Quote Link to post
