Popped up the farm tonight on the off chance that there may be something showing, but as I expected it was very quiet.The farmers son told me to try up the road where they keep some stock in a couple of barns, saying he saw some rats the other morning, I drove up the lane, parked the van and rolled a fag, I hadn't even got the gun out of its sleeve when a rat hopped onto an old water trough for a drink.I got the gun out and waited,just long enough to finish me fag when another one arrived, I took him out and he cartwheeled into the water. I fished him out and sat back in the van, then watched one climb 15ft up a pillar into the shed.Next one appeared in the food trough,I had to wait for him to show a third time to get a safe shot and duly sent him to ratty hell.The next half an hour saw me watch at least a dozen young uns scurry around the feeders but with the animals about I couldn't get a safe shot.(the cows don't take a blind bit of notice of the rats feeding with them)The last one was back at the water trough,he also did a back flip into oblivion.They were just starting to come out as I left so I shall return in the week and arrange some gates to keep the stock out and leave some food for them to get them out.This could be the start of something very pleasurable.

I've never tried ratting, sounds like fun. I think i'll find somewhere with a rat problem.
