poacher3161 1,766
Accidents will happen as sure as eggs is eggs as i had a close shave a few weeks ago while having a mouch.I dont think any exscuse will hold up though if you are tresspassing if only in the persuite of coney and an hare gets flushed from the hedge bottom and caught you can exspect a big ticket if caught.atb dell Quote Link to post
Catcher 1 639
Just wondering how you would stand with the law if you were bushing for rabbits but a hare or fox was to come out and dogs caught it. Believe it or not.It happened to a few lads i know.Just after the ban Guys had just netted up about seven holes put the ferret down and the police appear asking hope your not after hare lads. Not way say the lads as you can see we are after rabbits.Next thing what comes out and slipped the net a hare,So the guys are standing there with plod thinking shit how did that happen. Then one of the young lads slipped his dog on it with two police standing there.Give the police there due.Knew the score and let it go.I have only ever seen it two times myself. The young lad got pellter on the way home.atb. Ideation 8,216
Never had any problems. The landowners know we're there to control rabbits but aren't exactly unhappy if something else jumps up and gets itself accidently killed. No one ever sees it that would report it. There are few people where we hunt. In fact we are lucky to see one in ten trips. Jai. Quote Link to post
crackpot 29
not sure if this story accuratley represents the law but i recall on an animal rescue program on tele that a woman out walking her 2 jrt's in the country off the leed when they both dissapear into a badger set, after the fire brigade, police and some specialised serch and resue team arrived the terriers where retrieved, there was no acction taken by the police.although might be a different story if dog owner was wearing cammo jacket with a spade under their arm.CP. romany52 313
If you haven't got permission , makes no difference whether it's rabbit, rat, fox or hare, your contravening the hunting with dogs act. Rabbits and rats are only exempt if you have permission. Quote Link to post
