moles for bird food

av heared of people feedin there ferrits moles befor but not day in day out so dont see why not. varid diet and all that

i was just seeing if it would be ok like cuz my dad's got his own moleing buisness and he gets alot of moles from doing that.. thanks mate

The birds dont bother with them, ferrets dont bother most of the time even! they will play with them for a bit then leave them. They are horrible tasting and basically weasels catch them, and foxes and badgers will take them from traps, thats about it.

I catch hundreds of moles too but dont do anything with them.

Wow, ive been into falconry for a long time now and have never known a bird regularly eat them. Ive had harrises, gosses and reds and none would do much more than toy with them. Maybe owls are different?

tried feeding a couple to my harris last week she tried the first one but would not eat much of it the second one was left totally untouched so i would say they dont like them much

No! Why would you want to? No bird eats moles, or with the exception of the tawny owl, shrews. Possibly because they taste vile!

 

You can't be so hard up for bird food that you need to feed moles. lol & I wouldn't feed something just because they're available. The fact that birds don't eat them should tell you all you need to know. People could eat foxes, stoats & badgers. But would you want to? :-)

I would be more concerned about parasites worms suffer from them and you dont want your hawk eating them but thats what the mole lives on so you would have to reason that the mole is full of parasites also and so proably should not be fed to your birds
