Some rabbit control today

Recommended Posts

Well people, out today in the stunning weather.

Had a call earlier in the week to sort out a big rabbit issue, there are three properties on a converted farm complex, the rabbits are around all the boundaries and the residents are fed up with trying to keep them at bay with fencing :wallbash: So enter me, and Bud off here. Late in the yeqar i know, but at least the nettles aren't too bad yet, although the way the pup reacted you'd think he was walning on drawing pins

Well, we got to the land at about 0830 and set to work, the best part of 100 nets went down :icon_eek: and then we went for a wander to let the warren settle, going around the other side of the land we were literally almost stepping on the squatting rabbits in the long grass  the whole other side had plenty of rabbits banging about, unfortunately this bit will have to wait till next week

After getting back to the warren we'd netted we entered our four jills and stood back, the action was immediate, rabbits bolting all over the place, plenty of young making off through the myriad if pathways through the nettles, the adults bolted like lightning, none peeping out and turning round, all in all the action was steady for about an hour or so.

The Mk3m was playing ur, we think due to the massive amount of metal under the ground, also finding the mobile in my trouser pocket to interfere with the locator

Harley, the pup caught his first adult bolted rabbit in fine form, making up ground very well, pinning it before it reached the long net :toast:

The pup has come on wonderfully, learned the longnet very well, no hiccups  and broken to ferrets like a seasoned pro :big_boss:

Ending the day with 20 big adult rabbits and four young, with only 1 very small dig, 3 ft through laughably soft ground

Here's the pics...... enjoy.

Nice going mate they still need thinning out at this time of year

Very true there matey, and people tend to notice even more than usual when they see handfuls of young about too

The landowner did make me smile when he looked at the bag and said 'it's surprising how such a few rabbits can do so much damage' ?! and these were in his garden  He should've tried carrying the bloody things too :D

nice one buddy good bag you had there looks like you had a nice day, smart looking dog and ferrets to. :clapper::clapper::thumbs:

Cheers fells, the pup's coming on a treat, still only 6mnths so plenty of learning to do  The darker of the ferrets is a daughter to the bew, she's coming on in leaps and bounds after a frankly disappointing first season :whistling: Just goes to show they all develop at different rates
