Phantom 631
Hey guy's, This week while out in the field, I did some accuracy testing using Myself, the AA S200 and the AA Field Diablo's (one of my babies preferred pellet types) and the Kassnar Scope. I had; as some of you will recall, a day last week where every pellet I shot at paper removed the bull and yet every shot at live quarry, allowed the quarry to flick its tail up at me and say "Call yourself a Marksman?" before running off only to die laughing That to me is the best thing about going for a brain shot, do it right you get a 'lights out' do it wrong and 9 times out of 10 it misses the animal completely and you get another chance another day Having spent hours pulling pellets out of my portable backstop (plumbers putty) I smoothed out the putty and put some (5) black dot stickers on it. These stickers are just slightly bigger than a (UK) 1 pence coin. Put it out at my zero range and fired the first group of 5 to check the gun/scope was spot on and after two clicks elevation it was So I began shooting at the 4 dots. The wind was almost non existant which is always a bonus The great thing about using this kind of putty is that it is soft enough, but tough enough to absorb all the energy of the pellet in a fraction of a second and enables you to recover the pellets from exactly where they landed with a pin, knife or whatever. It also holds them exactly where they hit, so no flying out People often say to me, its damn near impossible to consistantly put pellet on pellet, in the true sense of the phrase, and we all know that a one hole group is usually many pellets tearing just one hole in the target and not one pellet going through the previously made hole without widening it (as some laughingly claim!). After bringing back the backstop I carefully removed the pellets and photographed the resultant groups. The following shows groups of 3 to 5 shots and shows just what can be achieved when care is taken when shooting. I'm the 1st to admit, that its virtually impossible to achieve this kind of accuracy out in the field especially with a springer; but from a pod mounted PCP at a given range and near perfect conditions, well see for yourself. Pesonally I just love the damn near perfection of that 3 leaf clover So much so, I'm going to have it mounted in clear resin as a paperweight. I wish I'd actually used a 4 Bull Paper Target so I could have had it laminated and framed as a trophy Phantom Edited April 10, 2010 by Phantom Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
Sounds like a challenge Stealthy You putting your HW100 up by any chance I'll work on it I know I'm up to it on an indoor range, but I don't have one close by. The range was about 30'ish yards (my paces, so give or take a little on that) I've just measured out 20 feet in the back garden and have gotten some string to make a 100 feet marker (as someone pointed out yesterday, think it was Bill?). gringo40 13
Nice work Phantom........I don't think I could do that even if my gun was clamped in a vise and couldn't move. Cheers Carl Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Cheers guy's I'm down to my last 50 or so AAF's now and can't get any more for another couple of weeks Got about 40 FX 16grainer's and 45 Bisley Mags. So won't be trying the 10 pellet pile up this week. I have a couple of thousand Milbro Caledonions though, but no chance of getting a 2 pellet smash up with them Phantom Quote Link to post
